276. What do we ask for in this petition?
We ask that our Father in Heaven would graciously forgive our sins for Christ's sake.
Psalm 51:1-2 Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your steadfast love; according to Your abundant mercy blot out my transgressions. Wash me thoroughly from my iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin!
Psalm 130:3-4 If You, O LORD, should mark iniquities. O Lord, who coudl stand? But with You there is forgiveness, that You may be feared.
Luke 18:13 God, be merciful to me, a sinner.
