258. What are the benefits of living under God's gracious rule?
Christ is risen and ascended to the Father's right hand. From there, "He sanctifies those who believe in Him, by sending the Holy Spirit into their hearts to rule, comfort, and make them alive" (AC III 5).
Colossians 1:13-14 He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.
2 Timothy 4:18 The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into His heavenly kingdom. To Him be glory for ever adn ever. Amen.
Colossians 3:15 Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
Acts 26:18 [The Holy Spirit used Paul as a servant and witness to the Gentiles] to open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in Me.
Read Matthew 5. In the Beatitudes, Jesus encourages us by showing how His kingdom upends all earthly kingdoms and expectations. In Ephesians 4:17-32, St. Paul describes the new life in which we no longer walk "in the futility" of a mind that does not know our Lord and King.
