Daily Walk in the Catechism

257. What do we ask adn seek from our Father in this petition?

We ask that the Kingdom of God would come among us, and so we pray that

A. God would give us His Spirit so that we may believe His Word and live "under Him in His kingdom and serve Him in everlasting righteousness, innocence, and blessedness";

Psalm 51:11-12 Cast me not away from Your presence, and take not Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.

Isaiah 55:11 [My Word] shall not return to Me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

1 Peter 2:12 Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation.

B. God's Word would be proclaimed throughout the world--also by us--that His Spirit might bring others under His gracious reign;

Acts 4:29 And now, Lord, look upon their threats and grant to Your servants to continue to speak Your Word with all boldness.

Matthew 9:38 Pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.

2 Thessalonians 3:1 Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the Word of the Lord may speed ahead and be honored, as happened among you.

C. Jesus would return soon and fully manifest His rule.

Philippians 3:20 But our citizenship is in Heaven, adn from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Revelation 22:20 He who testifies to these things says, "Surely I am coming soon." Amen. Come, Lord Jesus!
