Daily Walk in the Catechism

170. Why was Jesus' divine majesty not always evident during His earthly life?

As man, Christ did not always or fully use or manifest the divine powers and majesty that were communicated to His human nature. This began with the lowly manner of His incarnation, continued in the manner of His birth and life, and was completed with His death and burial. We call this His state of humiliation.

Philippians 2:5-8 Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

2 Corinthians 8:9 For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you by His poverty might become rich.
