As our Brother,

Galatians 4:4-5 But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of woman, born under the Law, to redeem those who were under the Law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.
B. Jesus suffered and died to pay the penalty of our sin (His passive obedience);
Mark 10:45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.
Galatians 3:13 Christ redeemed us from the curse of the Law by becoming a curse for us--for it is written, "Cursed is everyone who is hanged on a tree."
1 Peter 1:18-19 Knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb without blemish or spot.
Hebrews 2:14 Since therefore the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise partook of the same things, that through death He might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil.
Read Romans 3:22-24 and Colossians 1:22.
C. Jesus overcame death so that we, too, can be raised from death.
1 Corinthians 15:57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Timothy 1:10 Christ Jesus ... abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the Gospel.
1 Corinthians 15:20 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.
