128. For what purpose did God create the angels?
A. God created angels to be His messengers and servants.
Luke 1:13 The angel said to him, "Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer has been heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John."
Luke 1:26-28 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. And the virgin's name was Mary. And he came to her and said, "Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with you!"
B. God created angels to protect the people of God.
Psalm 91:11-12 For He will command His angels concerning you to guard you in all your ways. On their hands they will bear you up, lest you strike your foot against a stone.
Hebrews 1:14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent out to serve for the sake of those who are to inherit salvation?
C. God created angels to worship and praise Him continally and lead us to do the same.
Luke 2:13-14 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praiseing God and saying, "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among those with thom He is pleased!"
Psalm 103:20-21 Bless the LORD, O you His angels, you mighty ones who do His Word, obeying the voice of His Word! Bless the LORD, all His hosts, His ministers, who do His will!
