Daily Walk in the Catechism

126. What other living creatures did God create?

A. God made all other physical creatures from the earth, including plants, birds, animals, fish, and so on.

Genesis 2:19 Now out of the ground the LORD God had formed every beast of the field and every bird of the heavens and brought them to the man to see what he would call them.

Genesis 1:20 And God said, "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the heavens."

B. God also made nonphysical creatures called angels.

Nehemiah 9:6 You are the LORD, You alone. You have made Heaven, the heaven of heavens, with all their host [angels], the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them; and You preserve all of them; and the host of Heaven worships You.

Read Luke 1:1-20, 26-38; Matthew 1:18-21; Luke 24:4-7; and Acts 1:10-11.
